Death Certificates

By alicebb | 7:15 PM MST, Tue April 12, 2011

Dear Group,
Is it possible to view TX death certificates dating 1980 and 1991 free online?  I've got the death info--dates and place--from familysearch, but no images available to view.  Other than that, I only find online sites that require fees.
Thank you so much for your help.   Alice

TX Death Certificates

No, I don't believe so. By the way, as far as I know, the state of Texas will not release a Texas Death Certificate if the death occurred less than 25 years ago. The only exception is to immediate family members. If the death occurred more than 25 years ago, you can request a copy through the state: http://www.dshs.state.tx.us/vs/reqproc/deathcert.shtm for a fee. However, familysearch.org is the only free site that I know that has TX death certificates, but only for deaths up to 1976.

TX Death Certificates

I have found actual copies of both death notices and certificate of death and also some birth certificates on footnote.com, for a membership fee of course.
