misunderstanding

By agustin mota | 11:38 PM MST, Sat December 16, 2006

Greatings . In my search wile reading my grandfathers birth certificate i came acros the word -ELCOMPARECIENDE,this was in front of my great grandmothers name i assumed this was a name so after weeks of looking came up with nothing. Elcompareciendo is the person who is giving the information or presenting the child to the registro civil. maybe you all knew this but if not now you do. This information came from my cousin in Guadalajara.

misunderstanding

Just a quick comment regarding spelling of the word "compareciente". The
verb "comparecer" means to appear before a judge or a person of authority.
So "el compareciente" was the person who gave the information at the
Registro Civil. Notice that the word is preceded by the pronoun "el".
