>From the Codigo Canonico ---

Has anyone ever seen an "anotacion" in a marriage record that the marriage was later nullified (annuled)?

Nulidad de Matrimonio

Emily,

I once encountered a marriage document that after having been fully entered, it was x'd out with one big X and it said no vale. It was followed by the same name of one of the parties but it had a different spouse's name with a different marriage date. I did not copy it because it wasn't one of my ancestors but it did catch my eye because it was so unusual.

I remember one in 1700's Autlán. In the margin was a notation that the wife requested that her
marriage be voided because the groom had lied to her, had been previously married, was involved
with other women, and was a 'pícaro' besides!
