Are there any archives on information regarding Educational Background of Relatives back during Colonial Mexico Times?

By MADERA_32 | 6:40 PM MST, Mon June 13, 2011

Are their any archives on information about the educational background of relatives in our geneology tree going back to colonial times in Mexico?

Because how can one know of a relative was born in the 1700's in Mexico, how far in school did they get? Did they attend college?

I am so glad some of you commented on this question. A lot of our ancestors and current relatives live in the villages of the remote areas.

Generations and generations of farming. Some drop out of school to work on the farm. But I am interested to see the educational level of our ancestors back then.

Because how is it that our ancestors for generations live the same life style of farming and farming? Some must have wanted to get out of that lifestyle and study in a University and move up.

I know a lot of our ancestors names, dates when they were born, where they lived but no information on what education level they have?

Are there any archives on information regarding Educational Back

not the answer you are looking for but I noticed that most records ask for the
signature and the majority respond they do not read or write.
That is especially true of the women. It's a great question though and I also
would be interested in the answer.
