Oh my God! This is shocking? What is a "Morifco or "Morisco" As I am trying to look up that information since this is the first time to see that word classified on one of my relatives from the past in 1758. Here is part of the copy of the matrimonio of Lazaro Madera and Juana Micaela Perales in 1758 and I put an arrow over that word:

During Colonial times they used to cassify people according to their blood mix (sistema de castas). So a child with one parent Spaniard and the other Black would be a Mulato. A child with one parent Mulato and another Spaniard would be Morisco. They had very complex systems to name these castas, which not always matched, and some had wierd names like "Salta atrás" (jump back), "No te entiendo" (I don't understand you) or "Tente en el aire" (stay in the air). And as Linda says, sometimes they would classify different children from a same marriage under different castas, or people could be clasified under different castas throughout their lifes. In practice it was not an exact science.

He is listed as Morisco and she as Loba.. don't let a record like this concern you.. I have on family with 5 children and they range from Espanol, Morisco, Yndio and Mulato libre. in fact Dad was Yndio and Mom was Espanola..
